Patna, Nov 8: The first phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections witnessed an impressive voter turnout of 65.08 per cent, the highest participation the state has seen in recent electoral history, Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vinod Kumar Gunjiyal stated today.

Compared with earlier polls, the turnout reflects a notable rise in civic engagement. The CEO said voter participation increased by 7.79 per cent over the 2020 Assembly elections, which had registered 57.29 per cent, and by 8.8 per cent compared to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which saw a turnout of 56.28 per cent.

The counting of votes is slated for November 14, marking the conclusion of the state’s two-phase electoral exercise.
