Jamshedpur, Dec 19: The police and paramilitary forces on Tuesday recovered two IEDs (Improvised Explosive Device), including a powerful one from the Naxal-infested Tonto Thana area in the West Singhbhum district.

The IEDs that were aimed at inflicting injuries to the paramilitary forces weighed 10 kgs and five kgs respectively.

Both the explosive devices were recovered at a forest stretch between Patatorab and Chidiabera villages under the Tonto Thana area.

Operation against Naxals since October

It may be mentioned here that the police and paramilitary had started a special operation from October 10 against the CPI-Maoist rebels in Goelkera, Tonto and Sonua Thana area. During the operation, the security forces continued to unearth IEDs by carrying out the operation.

The police and paramilitary forces had resort to the special operation in pursuance of a strategic move against the Naxals who have sneaked into the Kolhan and Porahat forest divisions in the district since January this year.

In the anti-insurgency operations being carried out in the twin forest divisions, three paramilitary jawans were killed, about two dozens jawans injured and over a dozen innocent villagers were killed on being exposed to the IED explosions.
