Ranchi, Nov 8: Chief Minister Hemant Soren emerged as a saviour for migrant workers, ensuring the safe return of 48 Jharkhand labourers stranded in Tunisia.

The workers, who had been facing severe financial hardship after not receiving their salaries for the past three months, were brought back following the Chief Minister’s prompt and decisive intervention.

CM’s swift action ensures rescue

Upon receiving information about the plight of the stranded workers, the Chief Minister immediately directed the Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development Department to take action.

Acting under his instructions, the State Migrant Control Cell was activated and, with the cooperation of the Indian Embassy and other concerned agencies, successfully coordinated the workers’ repatriation.

Workers from Hazaribagh, Giridih and Bokaro

The rescued workers hail from Hazaribagh, Giridih, and Bokaro districts and were employed with PCL Prem Power Construction Ltd. in Tunisia.

Following the Chief Minister’s directives, labour department officials also met the workers to understand their grievances in detail.

The state government is now taking steps to extend welfare schemes and support to the workers and their families.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has consistently maintained that every worker from Jharkhand—whether within the country or abroad—is the responsibility of the state government. The safe return of the Tunisia workers stands as a testament to that philosophy and commitment.

This successful operation not only highlights the Jharkhand government’s sensitivity and efficiency but also reflects its deep humanitarian concern for migrant workers. Once again, through CM Soren’s efforts, the message is clear: the Jharkhand government stands firmly with its people, in every situation and wherever they may be.
