Dhanbad, Nov 12: The IIT (ISM) Dhanbad team has secured the first prize in the prestigious Switch Energy Alliance Case Competition 2025, a global contest dedicated to advancing energy literacy and sustainability awareness.
The competition, organised by the Switch Energy Alliance — a renowned international non-profit organisation — saw participation from 295 teams across 27 countries.
Out of these, only 20 teams advanced to the semi-finals, and five reached the global grand finals, where IIT (ISM) Dhanbad emerged as the overall winner.

Winning Team and Innovation
The winning team comprised Sarvesh Bhatia and Anant Sagar (B.Tech Final Year, Petroleum Engineering), Shruti Priya (B.Tech Final Year, Mineral and Metallurgical Engineering), and Sejal Kumari (B.Tech Final Year, Civil Engineering).
The group impressed the judges with their interdisciplinary approach, strategic thinking, and comprehensive roadmap for sustainable energy transition, earning them the top prize of $10,000.
Their proposal was praised for its clarity, scalability, and social relevance, reflecting a deep understanding of global energy challenges and solutions for a cleaner future.

Institute Lauds Global Achievement
Expressing pride in the students’ success, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad stated that the achievement brings international recognition to the institute and underscores its commitment to nurturing future leaders in the energy and sustainability sectors.
