Dhaka, Nov 17: Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal on Monday convicted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of crimes against humanity and sentenced her to death.

The verdict in Sheikh Hasina’s case spans 400 pages across six parts. The three-judge tribunal, led by Justice Ghulam Murtaza, delivered the judgment.

The tribunal, headed by Justice Murtaza, also included Justice Mohammad Shafiul Alam Mahmood and Justice Mohammad Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

In its decision, the tribunal stated that it examined multiple reports from human rights organisations and other bodies.

According to the tribunal, Sheikh Hasina committed crimes against humanity. The judgment stated that a large number of protesters were killed. Sheikh Hasina had allegedly ordered helicopter-borne bomb attacks on students who were staging peaceful demonstrations.

The tribunal also noted that Awami League workers took to the streets and carried out planned attacks on the protesters.
