Dhanbad, Dec 21: TEXMin, IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad has signed an MoU with the Manganese Ore Mining Company Limited (MOIL) Nagpur for developing commercial solutions of mineral exploration.
Prof Dheeraj Kumar, deputy director, IIT (ISM) cum project director, TEXMiN and MM Abdulla, director (production & planning) signed the MoU on behalf their organizations.
An IIT ISM official said the MoU was signed in Goa. On the occasion, IIT ISM Director JK Pattanayak led IIT ISM team while AK Saxena Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD), MOIL led his organization.
Prof VMSR Murthy and Prof DP Mishra of the Mining Engineering Department of IIT (ISM), Suraj Prakash CEO TEXMiN and Muhammed Danish, chief business development officer, TEXMiN were also present. From MOIL Limited side P Karaiya, executive director (Tech), and other dignitaries were present.

IIT ISM deputy director Prof Dheeraj Kumar said signing of the MoU marks the consolidation of a true partnership. The timing of the MoU is right. We must seize the opportunity to harness the exploration momentum, what we term as- Exploration 4.0. “The event marks the beginning of a renewed partnership and long-term collaboration between our institutions,“ said the deputy director.
“It is building on the past cooperation which resulted in a few tangible outcomes and now with TEXMiN, certainly it would be a milestone for both the institutions,” said Prof Dheeraj Kumar.
TEXMin chief executive officer (CEO) Suraj Prakash observed that the declaration of partnership commitment comes at an opportune moment. Prospects for India’s mineral exploration are attracting widespread attention following implementation of a joint comprehensive plan of action between the exploration agencies.
“Indeed, this agreement with MOIL is a significant milestone in our ongoing collaboration towards
development of AI/ML/Deep Learning based non-destructive technologies for mineral exploration,” Prakash further said.
