JHALSA launches nationwide search for two missing children from Ranchi

Ranchi, January 12: The Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) has launched a nationwide effort to trace two missing children from Ranchi, following directions from its Executive Chairman, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad.

After learning about the case through newspaper reports, Justice Prasad directed JHALSA to take immediate steps to ensure the safe return of the children, who have been missing since January 2, 2026.

Children Missing Since January 2

The missing children have been identified as Ansh (5) and Anshika (4), residents of Mosabari, Malar Toli, Dhurwa, in Ranchi district.

Despite continuous efforts by the police and district administration, the children have not yet been traced.

Nationwide Legal Services Network Activated

Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad directed the Member Secretary of JHALSA to seek assistance from:

  • All District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) within Jharkhand, and
  • State Legal Services Authorities (SLSAs) across the country

The objective is to leverage the extensive legal services network and para-legal volunteers working at the grassroots level, who have access to every district in the country.

Letters Sent with Photos of Children

Following the directions, JHALSA has sent letters to all DLSAs in Jharkhand, requesting them to make all possible efforts through their district units and para-legal volunteers to locate the missing children.

Similar letters have also been sent to all State Legal Services Authorities across India. The correspondence includes:

  • Photographs of both children, and
  • A copy of the newspaper report highlighting the case

Officials said the wide outreach of the legal services machinery could play a crucial role in locating the children.

Appeal for Collective Effort

JHALSA officials expressed hope that coordinated action and public cooperation would help trace the children at the earliest and ensure their safe return to their families.
