Dhanbad, Dec 23: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Dhanbad chapter has announced an indefinite shutdown of all private health centres in the district from December 30 in protest against extortion demands by criminals from Sharvmangla Nursing Home.
The notorious criminal of Wasseypur, Prince Khan, has demanded extortion from Sarvmangla Nursing Home.
December 29 deadline
IMA Dhanbad president Captain Dr Major Chandan, informing media persons, said that if the police administration failed to take action by December 29 against criminals involved in extortion demand, all big and small private hospitals would be shut down from December 30.
Criminals have demanded extortion of Rs 1 crore from Sarvmangla Nursing Home operator and have threatened to gun down if he fails to pay.

Doctors in panic mode
“Doctors in coal city have landed in panic again after extortion demand from Sarvmangla Nursing Home operator. Private health centre operators now have no option but to shut down the establishment for safety. So, we have served notice to ensure action against criminals in a week (by December 29); otherwise, private doctors will be compelled to shut down. The administration would be responsible for that,” said the IMA president.
Coalbelt doctors
In one year, this is the second time doctors of the Coal Belt have decided to shut down hospitals. Last year, doctors and other organisations descended on the road in protest. They observed the Dhanbad bandh when criminals demanded extortion from renowned surgeon Dr Samir Kumar in the name of the Aman Singh gang.
Notably, Aman Singh was gunned down in Dhanbad jail last month.
Dr Major Chandan, Dr Jimmy Abhishek and other office bearers of IMA were also present.
