SUBHASH MISHRA
Dhanbad, Jan 21: Cyber fraudsters have created a fake Facebook account in the name of Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aditya Ranjan, using his name and profile photograph.
Using the fake account, the cyber criminals are trying to cheat administrative officers and members of the public by sending misleading messages.
DC Alerts Police and Public
Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan has informed the police about the fake Facebook account and has also alerted people to remain cautious.

On Wednesday, the DC issued a public alert, urging people not to fall into the trap of cyber fraudsters operating through fake social media accounts created in his name.
In his appeal, the DC said that if anyone receives demands for money from unauthorised phone numbers or social media accounts, or comes across suspicious offers or links, they should immediately block such accounts and inform the concerned social media platform.
He also requested people to avoid clicking on any suspicious messages or links.
Second Such Incident Involving Current DC
This is the second time that cyber fraudsters have created a fake Facebook account of Dhanbad DC Aditya Ranjan. Earlier, in September 2025, cyber criminals had created a similar fake social media account using his name and profile photo.
In 2024, cyber fraudsters had also created fake social media accounts in the name of the then Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner, Madhvi Mishra.
Police are expected to look into the matter and take necessary action against those involved.
