Ranchi, February 20: The Jharkhand unit of the Bihar-Jharkhand Plastic Surgeons Association (JBPSA) organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme in Ranchi, during which leading plastic surgeons discussed clinical challenges, trauma care, and the need to make advanced plastic surgery more affordable.
The CME was held at Orchid Hospital and brought together over a dozen plastic surgery specialists from across Jharkhand and Bihar.
Trauma Care and Practice Challenges in Focus
Dr Tanmay Sinha spoke on “Trauma Care as a Plastic Surgeon in a Government Sadar Hospital”, highlighting the realities of handling emergency and reconstructive cases in public healthcare settings.
Dr Neha Mookin addressed the practical difficulties faced in plastic surgery practice, particularly in terms of infrastructure and patient access.
Dr Priyanka Karketta, Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), outlined key surgical challenges and suggested measures to strengthen facilities and improve outcomes.

Push for Affordable and Advanced Treatment
Association Patron Dr Ajoy Kumar Singh said the CME provided a platform for experts to exchange insights on the latest advancements in plastic and reconstructive surgery, while also discussing ways to make treatment more cost-effective for patients.
Members also decided to hold the next Association meeting in April, where the date and venue for the 2026 annual conference of the state chapter will be finalised.
The event was organised by Orchid Hospital management under the supervision of its Director, Sidhant Jain. A vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Tanmay Sinha, whose birthday was also celebrated after the meeting, reflecting what members described as the Association’s close-knit, collaborative spirit.
Leadership Updates
The 14th Annual Conference of the Association was held in Deoghar in October 2025. At that event, Dr Lalit Minj of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital was elected President, while Dr Veena Singh of AIIMS Patna was chosen as Vice-President and President-Elect for the next conference. She also serves as Treasurer of the national body.
