Jamshedpur, March 14: A three-year-old boy was critically injured after a speeding car ran over him in the Burmamines area of Jamshedpur on Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred near Star Talkies Colony under Burmamines police station limits and was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.

Child hit while playing near roadside

According to eyewitnesses, the toddler was playing near the roadside when a car, allegedly moving at high speed, struck him.

The impact was severe, with locals claiming that both the front and rear wheels of the vehicle passed over the child, leaving residents in shock.

Residents immediately rushed to the spot and took the injured child to Tata Main Hospital for treatment.

The victim, identified as Ayush (3), is currently under medical supervision, and hospital sources said his condition remains critical.

Police launch probe

Police from Burmamines police station reached the spot soon after receiving information and started an investigation.

Officials said they are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and trace the driver involved in the accident.

The incident has triggered concern among residents, who have demanded strict enforcement of traffic rules in residential areas.

They said overspeeding vehicles frequently pass through neighbourhood roads, posing a serious risk to pedestrians, particularly children.
