Dhanbad, March 16: The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, has opened the online admission portal for its Executive MBA programme for the 2026–28 session, inviting applications from working professionals, executives and entrepreneurs seeking to upgrade their managerial skills while continuing their careers.

The application process began on March 15 and will remain open until May 31, 2026.

Programme Tailored for Working Professionals

Introduced in 2012, the Executive MBA is a two-year programme (four semesters) conducted by the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering.

The programme is designed to help professionals strengthen managerial, leadership and strategic decision-making skills without interrupting their careers.

Most classes are conducted online, while mid-semester and end-semester examinations are held in offline mode at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and its extension centres in Kolkata and Delhi.

Flexible Schedule for Executives

Classes will be conducted:

  • Wednesday to Saturday: 7 pm – 9.50 pm
  • Sunday: 10 am – 5.50 pm

This schedule has been designed to make the programme convenient for professionals from the industry and public sector organisations.

Professionals from Top Companies Have Participated

Participants in previous batches have come from several leading organisations, including:

Coal India, SBI, HDFC Bank, SAIL, TCS, Tata Steel, Tata Power, Tata Motors, NTPC, Indian Railways, Infosys, PwC, ONGC and IOCL.

Professor Sandeep Mondal, Head of the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering, said the programme helps professionals upgrade their management capabilities.

“The Executive MBA programme at IIT (ISM) is designed to equip working professionals with contemporary management knowledge and analytical skills required in a rapidly evolving business environment,” he said.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3 or equivalent) from a recognised institution
  • Minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC, ST and PwD candidates)
  • At least one year of post-qualification work experience as executives, supervisors or professionals in industry, R&D organisations, government or reputed private sector organisations

Entrepreneurs applying for the programme must have registered firms with a minimum annual turnover of ₹2 crore, supported by audited financial statements.

Admission Process

Professor Niladri Das, Coordinator of the Executive MBA programme, said the admission process will include:

  • Written entrance test at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad
  • Online interview for shortlisted candidates

Final selection will be based on combined performance in the written test and interview.

Fee, Seats and Important Dates

  • Programme Fee: ₹6,00,000 (payable semester-wise)
  • Total Seats: 100
  • Reservation: As per the Government of India policy

Important Dates

  • Application opens: March 15, 2026
  • Application deadline: May 31, 2026
  • Entrance test: June 14, 2026
  • Online interviews: June 16–17, 2026
  • Tentative result: July 3, 2026
  • Admission process: July 6–13, 2026
  • Classes begin: July 25, 2026

Interested candidates can apply online through the institute website www.iitism.ac.in by paying an application fee of ₹2,000.
