Ranchi, March 20: The Jharkhand State Faculty Development Academy (JSFDA) held its first annual conclave in Ranchi on Friday, focusing on education reforms, technology integration, and the evolving role of teachers. The event marked one year of the academy under the state’s Higher and Technical Education Department.
Youth Seen as Key to State’s Growth
Principal Secretary Rahul Kumar Purwar said Jharkhand’s youth are the state’s greatest asset and stressed the need to equip them with the right skills. He urged teachers to act not only as educators but also as mentors and nation-builders.
Push for Tech-Driven Learning
Chief guest P. Kandaswamy highlighted the need to integrate teaching with modern technology. He appreciated the academy’s faculty development programmes in areas such as mental well-being, gender sensitisation, and communication skills, and called for expanding these efforts.
Focus on Policy, AI and Leadership
Discussions centred on the implementation of the National Education Policy, the role of artificial intelligence in education, and leadership development among teachers. Experts said AI should support, not replace, teachers.
They also stressed improving digital infrastructure, strengthening research and publication support, enhancing student counselling, and linking Jharkhand’s resources with entrepreneurship opportunities.
Students Honoured
At the valedictory session, Shruti Soni of Government Women’s Polytechnic, Ranchi, won the top prize in a logo design competition, while Anshika Chaudhary of Marwari College secured second place.
Call for Continuous Reform
The Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor, N M Kulkarni, emphasised continuous learning for educators and the need to strengthen training, research, and curriculum development.
