Ranchi, March 21: Marking the celebration of Sarhul, Jharkhand’s revered nature festival, Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday performed traditional rituals at the Sarna site in Sirmtoli, Ranchi. The occasion witnessed a blend of devotion, culture and environmental consciousness, as the Chief Minister prayed for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of the people of the state.

The festival, deeply rooted in tribal traditions, once again brought focus to Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage and its enduring connection with nature.

Traditional Sarhul Rituals Performed at Sirmtoli Sarna Sthal

Accompanied by his wife and MLA Kalpana Soren, the Chief Minister took part in the पूजा conducted as per age-old customs. The ritual was led by the Pahan (tribal priest), who blessed him by placing a Sarai (Sal) flower behind his ear—an important tradition symbolising the deep relationship between humans and nature.

The ceremony was performed with reverence and enthusiasm, reflecting the spiritual significance of the Sarhul festival in Jharkhand.

Sarhul Festival Symbolises Human-Nature Connection

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasised that Sarhul is not just a festival, but a message of coexistence with nature.

He stated that human life begins with nature and ultimately merges back into it, urging people to nurture and protect the environment.

He added that no system or force is more powerful than nature, underlining the need for collective responsibility towards environmental conservation.

Focus on Tribal Culture, Heritage and Social Harmony

The Chief Minister described Sarhul as a vibrant symbol of Jharkhand’s tribal identity, cultural richness and communal unity. He reiterated that the state government remains committed to preserving and promoting tribal traditions, culture and heritage.

He noted that the festival also carries a strong message of social harmony and environmental awareness.

On the occasion, Hemant Soren extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state, wishing them happiness, prosperity and continued progress.
