Jharkhand cop dies in accidental firing in Chaibasa

 

Jamshedpur, March 23: In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old police constable, Ajay Kishore Khakha, died after being hit by a bullet from his own service INSAS rifle in West Singhbhum district on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred while he was on duty at a CRPF camp in Pallisai under Tonto police station limits.

Incident Under Investigation

The exact circumstances leading to the firing remain unclear, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause.

Personnel present at the camp immediately rushed Khakha to Sadar Hospital in Chaibasa, where doctors declared him dead.

Victim from Gumla, Post-Mortem Conducted

Police said the deceased was a resident of Raidih in Gumla district. His family has been informed.

The body was sent for post-mortem at Sadar Hospital mortuary in the presence of an FSL team.

Jagannathpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rafeal Murmu said a detailed probe is underway. “The exact cause of the firing will be determined after a thorough investigation,” he said.
