Easterly trough active: Rain, thunderstorms likely in Jharkhand from April 4

Jamshedpur, April 2: An active easterly trough is set to influence weather conditions in Jharkhand, with rain and thunderstorms likely to begin from April 4, according to the latest regional weather update.

The current weather pattern is shaped by an east–west trough extending from an upper air cyclonic circulation over eastern Uttar Pradesh to Manipur. The system passes through Bihar, the sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bangladesh, Meghalaya, and southeast Assam at an elevation of around 0.9 km above mean sea level.

In addition, a secondary wind discontinuity extends from eastern Uttar Pradesh to southern Tamil Nadu, passing through parts of central and peninsular India.

Clear skies expected till April 3

For April 2 and 3, Jharkhand is likely to experience mainly clear skies with dry weather conditions across most regions. No significant weather activity or warnings have been issued for this period.

A change in weather is expected from April 4, with partly cloudy skies developing across the state. Light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorms may occur at isolated places, especially over north-western and central Jharkhand.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph are also likely in some areas.

Similar conditions on April 5 and 6

The weather outlook for April 5 indicates continued chances of light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, mainly over the northern parts of the state.

On April 6, partly cloudy conditions are expected to persist, with a possibility of light rainfall in some areas. However, north-western Jharkhand may remain largely unaffected.

No major weather warnings have been issued as of April 2. Storm-related activity from April 4 onwards is expected to be localised rather than widespread.
