Jamshedpur, April 11: In a crackdown on illegal narcotics trade, police in Mango arrested a youth allegedly involved in selling brown sugar late Friday night following a tip-off.
Police sources said information was received about the sale of brown sugar near the Durga Temple in the Market Committee area. Acting swiftly, a special team led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters-01), East Singhbhum, conducted a raid at the spot and detained the suspect.
The accused has been identified as Mahavir Biruli alias Bhatku (20), a resident near ABC Football Ground under Olidih police station area.

During the search, police recovered 20 packets of brown sugar and Rs 700 in cash. Preliminary findings suggest the drugs were being distributed at the local level.
A case has been registered at Mango police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The accused is being interrogated, and efforts are on to identify and arrest other members of the network.
