Jamshedpur, June 8: XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, formally welcomed its incoming Batch of 2026–28 through a Prayer Service and Induction Ceremony held at the Tata Auditorium on campus. The event marked the beginning of the academic journey for students enrolled in the Business Management (BM), Human Resource Management (HRM), Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM), Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), and BM International Specialisation Programme.

The ceremony reflected XLRI’s Jesuit values and its longstanding commitment to holistic education, bringing together students, parents, faculty, staff and administrators in a spirit of reflection, gratitude and purpose.

Prayer Service Highlights Diversity and Shared Values
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising wisdom and the pursuit of knowledge. Readings from the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, the Guru Granth Sahib and the Holy Quran highlighted the institute’s commitment to diversity, inclusivity and interfaith harmony.

Special prayers were offered for wisdom, ethical leadership, academic excellence, social responsibility and the well-being of the entire XLRI community.
The incoming cohort comprises 441 students across various programmes, representing diverse educational, professional, geographical and cultural backgrounds from across India and beyond.
Students Take XLRI Honour Pledge
As part of the induction ceremony, students took the XLRI Honour Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to integrity, ethical conduct, academic honesty, inclusivity, respect for diversity and excellence in pursuit of the common good.
The pledge reflects XLRI’s focus on developing responsible leaders who combine professional competence with strong ethical values.
Director Urges Students to Embrace Values-Driven Leadership
Addressing the gathering, Dr. (Fr.) Sebastian George, SJ, Director, XLRI, encouraged students and parents to approach the journey ahead with curiosity, compassion and collaboration.
He emphasised that effective leadership is built on trust, empathy and collective growth, noting that human progress has always depended on cooperation and learning from one another.
The Director urged students to cultivate values-driven leadership and contribute meaningfully to society while upholding XLRI’s legacy of excellence, integrity and service.
Dr. Sanjay Patro, Dean Academics, described the occasion as an important milestone that celebrates aspirations, ambition and new beginnings.
He encouraged students to embrace XLRI’s core Jesuit principle of “magis”, which represents the continuous pursuit of greater excellence and service to others.
Introduction to XLRI’s Academic and Leadership Culture
The induction programme serves as the first step in familiarising students with XLRI’s academic rigour, institutional values and leadership philosophy. Through interactions with faculty members, administrators, alumni and peers, students will gain deeper insights into the institute’s legacy of nurturing responsible and socially conscious leaders.
For more than seven decades, XLRI has remained committed to developing competent, values-driven professionals who balance business excellence with social responsibility.
The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, followed by interactions among students, parents, faculty members and the broader XLRI community, setting the stage for a transformative learning experience.
