‘Quiz competitions nurture lifelong learning’
Welcoming the delegates, Dr. Jaya Chauhan described the event as a celebration of knowledge, curiosity and excellence.
She said quiz competitions encourage students to look beyond textbooks and develop awareness of science, literature, history, culture, current affairs and emerging global developments.
Dr. Chauhan urged participants to view the competition not merely as a contest to win trophies but as an opportunity to learn, build friendships and develop confidence.
She also thanked the Delhi Public School Society for entrusting DPS Ranchi with hosting the prestigious zonal event and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing an enriching academic experience.
A cultural dance performance by DPS Ranchi students followed the inaugural address.
Curiosity is the foundation of knowledge: Dolly Chanana
Addressing the gathering, Dolly Chanana encouraged students to cultivate curiosity and develop the habit of asking questions.
She observed that while information is readily available today, true education lies in understanding, analysing and applying knowledge meaningfully.
She said quiz competitions help students build discipline, teamwork, humility and sportsmanship while encouraging them to embrace challenges with confidence.
Appreciating DPS Ranchi for hosting the event, Chanana noted that the confidence, friendships and exposure gained through such competitions remain valuable long after the event concludes.
Scientific inquiry begins with questions
Special guest Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar highlighted the importance of inquiry in both education and scientific research.
He encouraged students to question established ideas, analyse evidence independently and remain open to continuous learning.
According to him, meaningful education emerges when learners connect concepts across science, technology, society, history and everyday life rather than viewing subjects in isolation.
Quiz format explained
Quizmaster Adittya Nath Mubayi briefed participating teams on the rules, format and competition guidelines, explaining response protocols, discipline requirements and evaluation procedures to ensure a fair and transparent contest.
The Inter DPS Quiz Competition (Zone-IV) will be held on August 7, with teams competing across multiple rounds designed to test their knowledge, analytical skills, presence of mind and teamwork.
