Dhanbad, August 9: The Career Development Centre (CDC) of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad organised the ExxonMobil Internship Drive 2026 at the GJLT on Sunday, bringing students, faculty members and ExxonMobil professionals together for technical presentations, poster sessions and career-oriented interactions.
Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Dean (Career Development) Prof. Saumya Singh and Dean, Continuing Education Programme (CEP), Prof. Keka Ojha, along with heads of departments, faculty members, research scholars and students, attended the programme.
150 teams register for poster competition
A poster presentation competition was organised as part of the ExxonMobil internship drive. Around 150 teams registered for the competition, with nearly 100 teams submitting their presentations for evaluation.
The entries were assessed on parameters including technical clarity, problem definition, methodology, industry relevance and originality. Following the evaluation, 27 teams were shortlisted, comprising 12 pre-final-year and 15 final-year teams.
The shortlisted teams presented their projects before a panel of ExxonMobil professionals. Each team was given 12 minutes, including eight minutes for the presentation and four minutes for a question-and-answer session.
Pre-final-year students presented digital posters, while final-year students showcased their projects through printed posters.
ExxonMobil experts interact with IIT (ISM) students
The programme featured interactions with senior ExxonMobil professionals, including IIT (ISM) Dhanbad alumnus Nitesh Agarwal, Reservoir Engineer at ExxonMobil; Adam D. Fischer, Geoscience Manager; and Patrick D. Wall, Subsurface & Subsea Manager.
Other Indian and international representatives of ExxonMobil also interacted with students on technical subjects, industry practices, research opportunities and career pathways in the energy sector.
An ExxonMobil booth was also set up outside the GJLT, where students and research scholars, including Master’s and doctoral students, interacted with company representatives to learn more about the company’s operations, research opportunities and career prospects.
Winners to get direct Personal Interview opportunity
An important feature of the internship recruitment process is that winners of the poster presentation competition who have already been shortlisted for the internship recruitment process will be exempted from the Group Discussion round.
They will instead be allowed to appear directly for the Personal Interview round, providing an additional opportunity for students to advance in the ExxonMobil internship selection process.
ExxonMobil’s global energy operations
ExxonMobil is a US-based multinational energy company with operations spanning oil and gas exploration and production, refining, petrochemicals and other energy-related businesses. Its global activities cover upstream, downstream and chemical operations.
The ExxonMobil Internship Drive 2026 was organised by the Career Development Centre as part of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s efforts to strengthen industry interaction and expand internship and career opportunities for students.
