Jharkhand weather: Rain forecast on New Year’s Day

Jamshedpur, Dec 29:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light rain in isolated pockets of north-western Jharkhand on New Year’s Day on January 1.

The rain might mark the New Year revelry in places like Daltonganj, Latehar, Koderma and a few other pockets of the Palamu region.

Rain alert in isolated areas of Jharkhand was also issued for January 2 and January 3.

Currently, no significant synoptic situation exists over Jharkhand.

But, the rain on New Year’s Day was predicted on the basis of satellite pictures and wind chart analysis.

Jharkhand is set to experience a drop in temperature in the first week of New Year when the northwesterly winds are likely to blow through the state again.

An official in the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said easterly winds, which resulted in a rise in minimum temperature, will keep dominating till then.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over the state. The highest maximum temperature of 27.2°C was recorded at Jamshedpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 9.4 °C was recorded at Garhwa in the last 24 hours.
