Jamshedpur, September 21: Sona Devi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Braj Mohan Pat Pingua has been conferred the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his long-standing contributions to mining engineering research and academia.
The award was presented during the 5th International Conference on Safe & Sustainable Mining Technologies (IConSSMT)-2026 and Mining Expo’26, held on September 19 and 20 at Valley Club, Tata Steel, Joda, Odisha.
The honour, presented by The Indian Mining & Engineering Journal, recognised Prof. Pingua for his “Remarkable Contributions to Mining Engineering Research.”
Mining experts discuss safe and sustainable technologies
The international conference brought together mining experts, academicians, researchers, technical professionals and industry representatives from India and abroad.
The discussions focused on safe and sustainable mining technologies, technological advancements, mining safety, sustainable development, research and innovation, environmental concerns and emerging technical solutions.
Prof. Pingua’s recognition comes in acknowledgement of his sustained engagement with mining engineering research and his academic and technical contributions to the field.
University leadership hails recognition
Congratulating the Vice-Chancellor, Sona Devi University Registrar Nit Nayana described the award as a matter of pride for the institution. She said the recognition reflected Prof. Pingua’s long-standing commitment to research and academia and would inspire faculty members, researchers and students.
University Chancellor Prabhakar Singh also congratulated Prof. Pingua and described the honour as a proud moment for the university community.
