Jamshedpur, September 21: Train services in the Chakradharpur railway division will be affected from October 3 to 15 due to non-interlocking work for commissioning the fifth railway line at Bondamunda D Cabin in the Bondamunda A Cabin–Rourkela section.
The South Eastern Railway (SER) has announced a series of train cancellations and route diversions, affecting more than 20 services, including several trains passing through Tatanagar. The engineering and signalling work will be carried out in phases to facilitate safe commissioning of the new line.
The disruptions are likely to affect passengers travelling between Tatanagar, Rourkela, Chakradharpur, Hatia, Sambalpur and other destinations in Odisha.
Among the local services, the 68025/68026 Chakradharpur–Rourkela–Chakradharpur MEMU will remain cancelled from October 4 to 7 and October 11 to 15.
The 68043/68044 Rourkela–Tatanagar–Rourkela MEMU will remain cancelled from October 4 to 13.
The 58659 Hatia–Rourkela Passenger will remain cancelled from October 3 to 12, while the 58660 Rourkela–Hatia Passenger will not operate from October 4 to 13.
The 58152/58151 Badampahar–Bimlagarh/Bimitarpur–Badampahar Passenger will also remain cancelled from October 4 to 15.
Several long-distance trains cancelled
The cancellation schedule also includes several long-distance services.
The 18309 Sambalpur–Jammu Tawi Express will remain cancelled on October 6 and 8, while the 18310 Jammu Tawi–Sambalpur Express will be cancelled on October 9 and 11.
The 18109/18110 NSCB Itwari–Tatanagar–NSCB Itwari Express will remain cancelled from October 4 to 7 and October 11 to 13.
The 18175/18176 Hatia–Jharsuguda–Hatia Express will remain suspended on specified dates between October 4 and 14.
The 18601/18602 Tatanagar–Hatia–Tatanagar Express will also remain cancelled from October 4 to 7 and October 11 to 13.
Other affected services include the 18113/18114 Tatanagar–Bilaspur Express, 22861/22862 Howrah–Kantabanji Ispat Express, 12871/12872 Howrah–Junagarh Road Ispat Express, 18051/18052 Badampahar–Rourkela Express and 18049/18050 Shalimar–Badampahar Express.
Rajdhani, Utkal Express to run on diverted routes
The railway has also announced route diversions for two important trains.
The 20818 New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express will run via NSCB Gomoh–Adra–Midnapore–Hijli–Bhadrak–Cuttack on October 4 and 11.
The 18477 Puri–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Utkal Express will be diverted via Cuttack–Sambalpur City–Jharsuguda Road–IB on October 12.
More services affected
Several other long-distance services, including the Bilaspur–Buxar Express, Rourkela–Jaynagar Express, Hatia–LTT Mumbai Express, Hazur Sahib Nanded–Santragachi Express, Gorakhpur–Sambalpur Express, Hatia–Durg Express, Howrah–CSMT Mumbai Duronto Express, Hatia–SMVT Bengaluru Express and Puri–Hatia Express, will also face cancellations on specified dates.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the status of their trains through authorised railway channels before starting their journey to avoid inconvenience caused by cancellations and route diversions.
