Daltonganj, Sept 24: A souvenir titled “Bangiya Durgabari: A Journey of 112 Years” was launched on Thursday to mark the 112th year of Bangiya Durgabari Puja. Office-bearers of the Bangiya Durgabari Trust Board and Puja Committee attended the launch programme.
Shivesh Moitra, Secretary of the Durga Puja Organising Committee and editor of the souvenir, said the publication commemorates the 112-year journey of Bangiya Durgabari and contains extensive information about the Bengali community. He expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to bringing out the souvenir.
Prasenjit Boral, President of the Durgabari Trust Board, said that while the Durga Puja is entering its 112th year, the Bangiya Durgabari temple is completing 100 years.
He described the occasion as a memorable milestone and said efforts were being made to celebrate the centenary of the temple in a grand manner.
Four-day cultural programme planned
Sumit Bhattacharya, Vice President of the Trust Board and Coordinator of Cultural Programmes, said this year’s cultural programme would span four days as Saptami Puja would be observed over two days.
The programme will include a Bhagwati Jagran by artists from Dhanbad on the first Saptami evening, a play on the second Saptami, a performance by artists from Kolkata on Ashtami and a programme by local artists on Navami.
Various competitions will also be organised for children from the Bengali community.
Special arrangements for women
Women’s Committee Secretaries Munmun Chakraborty and Annapurna Boral said special arrangements would be made for women during the Durga Puja and cultural programmes to ensure their comfort and participation.
Devesh Moitra, Parth Pratim Gupta, Ashish Dasgupta, Tushar Kanti Boral, Debashish Sengupta, Shivnath Chatterjee, Ujjwal Sengupta, Prasenjit Dasgupta, Subhash Biswas, Amar Kumar Bhanja, Bipul Dutta and Basudev Goswami were among those present.
Trust Board Secretary Jayanta Biswas proposed the vote of thanks, while Puja Committee President Saikat Chattopadhyay conducted the proceedings.
