Jamshedpur, September 30: Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification of voters whose names have been flagged under the ‘no mapping’ and logical discrepancy categories during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls in East Singhbhum.
East Singhbhum District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Ranjan on Wednesday held a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties to review the status of such cases and discuss measures to facilitate eligible voters through the verification process.
During the meeting, the administration shared booth-wise data of voters who were issued notices because of discrepancies or ‘no mapping’ issues linked to the previous SIR. The data was provided to representatives of recognised political parties so that they could examine the cases and extend assistance to eligible voters in completing the required formalities.
Ranjan directed BLOs to visit the homes of concerned voters, establish direct contact and inform them about the documents and information required for disposal of their cases.
The administration will also organise outreach programmes and special camps for voters who require additional assistance during the SIR exercise.
Officials said several voters had already submitted the required documents during hearings conducted at the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) level. However, some voters whose names appeared in the 2024 electoral roll had submitted their enumeration forms but were unable to appear for the notice hearings for various reasons.
Such cases will be identified separately. The concerned EROs and other officials will undertake verification and field inspections wherever necessary before taking decisions according to the applicable rules.
Special focus on vulnerable voters
The District Election Officer directed officials to give special attention to voters facing particular difficulties, including Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), persons with disabilities, tribal communities, elderly voters and people who do not have details of their parents available.
The administration said the objective of SIR-2026 is to ensure that all eligible Indian citizens are included in the electoral roll while making the voter list more accurate and up to date.
Officials stressed that efforts would be made to ensure that eligible voters are not excluded because of procedural difficulties or lack of documentation.
Political parties asked to assist voters
Ranjan also sought the active cooperation of recognised political parties in the exercise. He urged political parties to identify eligible voters requiring assistance, particularly those listed under the ‘no mapping’ and discrepancy categories, and help them understand and complete the required procedures through their Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
The meeting was attended by the ERO-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue), Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order), Deputy Election Officer and representatives of recognised political parties.
