Jamshedpur, October 3: Jharkhand is likely to experience predominantly dry weather over the next couple of days, with isolated rainfall expected in parts of the state from October 5 as the southwest monsoon continues to withdraw.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, mainly clear skies and dry weather are likely on October 3 and 4.
Rain Activity to Pick Up From October 5
On October 5, partly cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at isolated places over northeastern Jharkhand.
Rainfall activity is likely to increase slightly on October 6, when light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places over the northeastern, central and southern parts of the state. Isolated rainfall is also possible over the northwestern region.
The outlook for October 7 indicates partly cloudy skies, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely at a few places across Jharkhand.
On October 8, rainfall is expected to remain largely confined to isolated places in the northeastern part of the state.
Monsoon Withdrawal Gains Momentum
The weather department said an upper-air cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, continues to persist.
Meanwhile, synoptic conditions are becoming favourable for the further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon.
The monsoon is likely to withdraw from the remaining parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, most parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, the entire Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, as well as some parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra during the next 48 hours.
The changing weather pattern indicates a gradual transition towards the post-monsoon phase in Jharkhand, although isolated rainfall activity is likely to continue over parts of the state through the coming week.
