Ranchi, October 4: Chief Minister Hemant Soren congratulated Jharkhand’s players from the Indian women’s hockey team for their historic gold-medal-winning performance at the Asian Games 2026.
Indian women’s hockey team captain Salima Tete, along with Jharkhand players Nikki Pradhan, Beauty Dungdung and Deepika Soreng, met Soren at the Chief Minister’s residential office.
During the meeting, Soren enquired about the players’ preparations and experiences during their campaign at the Asian Games.
He encouraged the players by offering them sweets and honoured them with traditional angavastras. He also extended his congratulations and best wishes for their achievement.
“This golden success achieved by the daughters of Jharkhand is a matter of pride and honour for both the country and the state,” Soren said.
The Chief Minister said the contribution of Jharkhand’s players to India’s Asian Games gold was a source of pride for the state and the country. He said their talent, hard work, discipline and determination had enhanced India’s prestige and added another glorious chapter to Jharkhand’s sporting history.
Achievement to Inspire Young Athletes
Soren said the achievement would inspire young people, athletes and particularly girls in Jharkhand and across the country to pursue excellence in sports.
He encouraged the players to continue bringing laurels to the nation with the same enthusiasm, dedication, hard work and commitment.
The Chief Minister also said the state government was actively working to nurture sporting talent in Jharkhand.
MLA Kalpana Soren also met the players and extended her congratulations and best wishes.
Vijay Shankar Singh (DG, Hockey Jharkhand), Rajnish Kumar (International Wrestling Coach and CEO, Jharkhand), and Manoj Kumar Prasad (General Secretary) were also present on the occasion.
