Jamshedpur police conduct riot-control drill ahead of Durga Puja

PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, October 7: With Durga Puja and other festivals approaching, the Jamshedpur police have stepped up preparations to ensure peace and effective law-and-order management across the city.

A riot-control mock drill was conducted at the Police Centre in Golmuri on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Ehtehsam Waqarib.

Focus on Crowd Control and Emergency Response

The drill was aimed at preparing police personnel to respond swiftly and effectively to sudden law-and-order challenges and other emergency situations.

During the exercise, personnel practised crowd-control measures, handling situations involving tension and unrest, taking prompt action against troublemakers and maintaining coordinated responses during volatile situations.

The exercise also focused on strengthening coordination among police personnel and ensuring that the force remains prepared to deal with any eventuality during the festive season.

Enhanced Vigilance in Sensitive Areas

Officers directed personnel to maintain heightened vigilance in sensitive areas and respond immediately to any information that could have a bearing on public order.

Police officials said elaborate security arrangements were being strengthened to ensure that Durga Puja and other upcoming festivals are celebrated peacefully and harmoniously.

Special focus will be placed on crowded areas, puja pandals and other sensitive locations, with enhanced surveillance and prompt deployment of personnel wherever required.
