Ranchi, Jan. 5: One of the three Olympic qualifiers to be held at the world level will be organised in Jharkhand.

The FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier event will be held from January 13 to 19 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.

Jharkhand ready to host

For this, Jharkhand is ready to host the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier. The women’s hockey teams of India, Italy and the USA have reached Ranchi to participate in their respective FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier matches.

India’s first match against USA

India’s first FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier match held in Jharkhand will be played against USA on January 13.

The campaign opener will be played on January 13 between Germany and Chile who are in Poll A. The second match will be played between Japan and Czech Republic the same day who are also in Poll A.

Poll B’s first match is between New Zealand and Italy.

India in Poll B

India is in Poll B alongside USA, Italy and New Zealand.

Based on the performance of the above teams, Pool A and Pool B will play the winner match. Pool A includes teams from Germany, Japan, Chile and the Czech Republic, and Pool B has teams from India, New Zealand, the USA and Italy.

Apart from Jharkhand, it is organised in Muscat, Oman (men) and Valencia, Spain (women and men).

The teams that finish in the top-3 of each of the four FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024 tournaments will seal their qualification to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
