Jamshedpur, January 24:  The twin cyclonic circulations hovering over neighbouring states impacted Jharkhand’s weather once again resulting in cloud cover and threat of rainfall in southern and central parts of Jharkhand today.

Satellite pictures suggested that one cyclonic circulation was hovering over southern Chhattisgarh, Marathwada and Telangana at 0.9 Km above mean sea level while the other lay over northwest Uttar Pradesh at 3.1 Km above the mean sea level.

Light rainfall

Weathermen said light rainfall is expected at isolated places over southern and adjoining central parts of the state today due to the impact of the twin cyclonic circulations. The adverse weather resulted in a rise in minimum temperature today.

Statistics indicated that Ranchi today recorded a minimum temperature of 11.5 degrees Celsius. Today’s minimum temperature in Ranchi was two notches above normal. The minimum temperature also witnessed an abrupt rise in Jamshedpur due to the cloud cover.

The local weather observatory in Jamshedpur today recorded a minimum temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal. Daltonganj, Bokaro, Chaibasa in neighbouring West Singhbhum and several other districts also witnessed a rise in minimum temperature today.

According to weathermen, the minimum temperature would continue to witness a rise for the next 24 hours after which the minimum reading will again witness a fall.

Meanwhile, Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas and several other districts in central Jharkhand today woke up to gloomy and overcast conditions.

Moderate to heavy fog also prevailed at several places this morning resulting in poor surface visibility.

Met department officials predicted a rise in minimum temperature by 3-5°C over southern and adjoining central Jharkhand during the next 24 hrs.  Thereafter it falls by 2-3 °C during the subsequent two to three days.
