Daltonganj, January 27: A Tiranga was hoisted atop the Naya Quila Betla this Republic Day. A modest number of villagers, including women, took part in the R-Day function here.

The R-Day celebration was here when, three days ago, a leopard came here whose pug marks were noticed, claimed a camera trap expert in PTR, Manish.

It was hoisted by the deputy director north division of PTR P K Jena. His conception and idea was unfurling Tiranga atop Betla’s Naya Quila. He had started it last Independence Day.

Never in the history of the PTR Tiranga was ever hoisted atop the Naya Quila. Jena is credited for this novel beginning.

It has yielded good results. The decaying and ruining Naya Quila gets ‘saaf safai’. Plastic and polythene bags are picked up.

Again, a sense of belongingness of people to it emerges stronger with every such hoisting of Tiranga.

This time, the interior of the Naya Quila was lit with diyas. 40 diyas were lit in the dark and withering interior of the Naya Quila.

A Tiranga was hoisted inside the interior, too.

The Chero Raja Medinirai of this Quila ruled for 16 years from 1658 to 1674 and had his rules from Sarguja, now in Chhattisgarh, to South Gaya, Hazaribag, etc.
