Daltonganj, Jan 29: Around a dozen tourists direct sighted a tiger in the Palamu Tiger Reserve.

The Jharkhand Story maintaining its policy of protection for its flagship wildlife is withholding the name and latitude and longitude of the site of the direct sighting of the tiger in the tiger reserve.

The tourists are happy, and so are the PTR management.

Tiger makes the news here on two counts. First naturally when it is sighted. Its sighting may be eye sighting or camera trapping.

The second news about the tiger is when it vanishes for days and weeks together. Its pug marks become unseen. Its kill is not found.

Nothing as amusing as tiger sighting

Both the situations about the tiger here are amusing. Tourists see deer, cheetal, elephants, bear, peacocks, hyenas, bison etc but it never makes tourists rapturous.

One sighting of the tiger and then it is a deluge of contentment in the tourists who believe their tourism is worth the money that they have spent on travelling, accommodation, food etc.

PK Jena, deputy director of the north division of PTR, said, “Tourists were packed in three vehicles and they all sighted it. I won’t be able to tell more except that these tourists once back home would be telling about the tiger here in the PTR which remains in the news for things not found here.”
