Daltonganj, February 1: Sarfaraz Ahmad, who forsook his Gandey assembly seat for Hemant Soren, is now a reflective man. He said, “I am watching the political development.”
The Jharkhand Story correspondent spoke to Ahmad this morning. Here are the excerpts:
Q: You resigned from your seat, Gandey, to bail out Hemant Soren. But now, the political situation is altogether different.
A: Yes, I did forsake my seat. A new political situation has emerged.
Q: Do you now regret or repent for forsaking your seat?
A: No. Not at all. There is no question.
Q: How do you see the present political scenario in the state?
A: It’s very fluid. It’s changing faster than expected.
Q: Will the assembly be put in suspended animation by the Governor?
A: There is a provision for putting Assembly under suspended animation.
Q: But how? You have a strength of 42 right now.
A: That’s true. Our numerical strength is full.
Q: JMM’s 3- Lobin Hembrom, Sita Soren and Chamra Linda- are said to be a pain in the neck for the party, as said openly by the JMM. How do you see it?
A: I have nothing to comment on this.
Q: The JMM leaders and partymen must not ‘overdo’ things like reaching Ranchi in thousands and thousands, jamming roads, etc. It won’t help JMM any more.
A: The JMM party has asked leaders and partymen to be restrained. There is no point in having a massive convergence of partymen and supporters at any corner of Ranchi or elsewhere in the state. It’s time to think calmly.
Q: Do you understand that the President Rule may come or the assembly election in Jharkhand due in this November/ December is preponed and held with the coming Lok Sabha election due in April/May?
A: These things are. For the imposition of the President’s Rule, there has to be a constitutional crisis and, second, a colossal breakdown of the law and order in the state. This is to be decided by the Raj Bhavan. Everyone in the opposition camp is parroting Jharkhand’s bad law and order situation.
As for preponing the Assembly election and merging it with the Lok Sabha election, I believe many of the MLAs of the opposition parties would have the nightmare of facing the election so nearby.
