Revealing about the breakthrough, the SP (Rural) Rishabh Garg said Tantubai was caught following a chase on Post Office Road in Sundernagar last night.

“We got a tip-off that a hardcore criminal, Bidhata Tantubai, was moving around the Sundernagar thana area with a loaded pistol. On searching for the criminal in a Thar jeep, the police team led by Sundernagar thana OC Sunny Vardhan tried to nab the criminal, but the latter sped away. The police team, however, chased the Thar and ultimately succeeded in intercepting the vehicle on the Post Office Road, ” said Garg while talking to the newsmen at a press conference on Thursday.

The SP (Rural) pointed out that on searching, the police team found the pistol tucked in the waist. He said while the police were busy frisking the criminal, they later damaged his mobile phone and threw it away. He stated that the police found the damaged phone, which the criminal must have thrown away to stop the police from getting any information from the handset.

The senior police officer said Tantubai, a history-sheeter, might be prowling around to commit any grievous crime in Sundernagar.
