Imphal, Jan 3: Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the former Union Home Secretary, took the oath of office as the 19th Governor of Manipur on Friday.
The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Raj Bhawan in Imphal, with the presence of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, his council of ministers, and senior government and police officials.
Ajay Bhalla takes over from Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who assumed the role of Manipur’s Governor on July 31 last year.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh remarked that the appointment of Ajay Kumar Bhalla as Governor reflects the central government’s commitment to resolving issues in Manipur.
He praised Bhalla as a highly competent and experienced individual, having held key positions in the central government, particularly in the Home Department, and expressed confidence in his knowledge of the Manipur issue.
The Chief Minister wished Bhalla a successful tenure and expressed eagerness to collaborate for a peaceful and prosperous Manipur under his leadership.
