Dhanbad, Nov 26: BIT Sindri Global Alumni Association annual meeting concluded today on high notes where former students rejoiced in their union on campus while reminiscing and sharing their literary, artistic, and scientific journeys.
More than a hundred former students of the institution living in the country and abroad during the function announced a slew of development projects for their alma mater.
Rs 1 crore for chemical engineering department
SN Sharma (1964 batch), a USA-based alumni, announced sponsoring Rs 1 crore for the development of the chemical engineering department. Another alumnus, Sanjay Panjiyar, provided a tractor worth Rs 5 lakh.
Scholarships for girl techies
The BIT Sindri Alumni Association, Jamshedpur chapter, selected eight girl techies of the institution for the scholarship. Each student would get Rs 25,000 per month for one year.
Alumni members’ graduation years from 1949 to 2019 shared memories through stage sharing.

Earlier in the morning, the meeting kick-started with a lamp-lighting ceremony.
Student-alumni relationships
Vice-Chancellor (V-C) of the Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) Dr DK Singh, the chief guest on the occasion, discussed the crucial role of student-alumni relationships.
Director of BIT Sindri Pankaj Rai informed about the institution’s progress.” Your continued support strengthens the bond among our alumni community and serves as a beacon for current and future generations. We are immensely grateful for your dedication to fostering a thriving alumni network,” he said
Umesh Prasad Sah, Secretary of the BIT Sindri Alumni Association (BITSAA), welcomed and emphasized the significance of former students gathering.
BIT new projects
Dean of Alumni Affairs Prakash Kumar spoke about the new projects and initiatives of the BITSAA and highlighted the institution’s overall development and its achievements. He also shed light on placement and internship opportunities.
BIT Director Pankaj Rai and Dean of Alumni Affairs, Prof Prakash Kumar, highly appreciated the move of the Jamshedpur chapter of BIT Sindri Alumni Association and requested all alumni of the institution to join in this campaign for the upliftment of girl engineering students by providing scholarships.
