Jamshedpur, April 14: Sona Devi University celebrated the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with great reverence at the Vivekananda Auditorium in Ghatshila on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by the Principal of Government Polytechnic, Seraikela, Satyadev Ram, as the chief guest. He inspired students by highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s journey from facing untouchability in childhood to becoming a global icon through education.
Focus on equality and education
Addressing the gathering, Ram said Dr. Ambedkar dedicated his life to social equality, educational empowerment, and constitutional rights for all sections of society. He stressed the importance of special provisions in education and employment for the underprivileged and called for proper implementation of constitutional safeguards.

He also urged students to be aware of their rights and supported merit-based selection for key positions, along with accountability in the teaching system.

Call for unity and progress
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua said the Constitution binds the nation despite its diversity and called for collective efforts to build a progressive future.
Registrar Dr. Nit Nayna introduced the theme, while Assistant Professor Dr. Shiv Chandra Jha described Dr. Ambedkar as a symbol of social justice, recalling his message: “Educate, Agitate, Organise.”
The programme began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and included cultural performances and student speeches. It concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kanchan Sinha.
