Hazaribagh, Sept 22: Aradhya Tiwari, Ananya Giri, and Nishtha Rana emerged champions in the under-15, under-17, and under-19 girls’ singles categories, respectively, at the Hazaribagh Ashmita Girls’ Badminton Championship, which concluded at the Indoor Badminton Stadium on Sunday evening.

In the under-15 final, Aradhya Tiwari overcame Arvika Sinha in a thrilling three-set battle, winning 21-18, 15-21, 21-14. Aradhya clinched the first set 21-18 after a neck-and-neck fight, but Arvika bounced back strongly to take the second 21-15. In the decisive set, however, Aradhya kept her composure and sealed the match 21-14.

Dominant Wins in Under-17 and Under-19 Finals

The under-17 girls’ singles title went to Ananya Giri, who registered a commanding victory over Zoya Naaz 21-04, 21-15. While Zoya offered little resistance in the first set, she fought harder in the second but was unable to turn the match in her favor.

In the under-19 category, Nishtha Rana displayed her dominance by defeating Nandita Mehta 21-14, 21-15 in straight sets, securing the crown with ease.

Felicitation Ceremony

The closing ceremony was graced by Sailendra Sinha, Inspector General of Police, Palamu, as the chief guest. He, along with guest of honor Dr. Vijay Shankar Narayan Singh, distributed prizes to winners, runners-up, and semifinalists.

In his address, the chief guest praised the outstanding performances of the young players, commending their talent and determination. He encouraged the budding shuttlers to continue excelling in upcoming tournaments and emphasized the importance of sports in building discipline and character, particularly among girls.

Organizers Acknowledged

Sinha also appreciated the efforts of Hazaribagh Badminton Association secretary Yashvir Jaggi for successfully organizing the championship and providing excellent infrastructure to nurture emerging talent.

Dr. Vijay proposed the vote of thanks, while Prof. R. Hari, Director of Sports at VBU, Rajesh Gupta, and Ashwini Kumar were also present on the occasion. Jaggi, meanwhile, credited his colleagues at the association for the smooth conduct of the tournament.
