New Delhi, January 19: Agriculture cum Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda was elected president of the Archery Association of India (AAI) on Friday unopposed.

His entire panel of Sr. Vice-President (1), eight (8) Vice
Presidents and seven (7) Joint Secretaries, Secretary-General (1), and Treasurer (1) wwas also re-elected unopposed.
The general council meeting of the AAI was held here at the DDA Yamuna Sports Complex.

Delhi Pradesh BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, who was earlier the Treasurer of the Association, has become the new Honorary Secretary General of the Archery Association of India, while Dr. Joris Paulose Ummacheril of Kerala has been elected as the new Hony. Treasurer.

The elections were held without any contest in all posts except for eight Vice-President posts for which there were nine candidates.
35-member State Archery Associations affiliated with the Archery Association of India took part in the election process.
Justice Permod Kohli (Retd.), Former Chief Justice, Sikkim High Court, and Chairman of the Arbitration Commission of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) conducted the AAI election in a transparent and peaceful manner. Justice Kohli declared the results of the AAI elections in the presence of Sahdev Yadav, Treasurer of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) who attended the meeting in the capacity of the IOA observer.

Meanwhile, Munda said that he was deeply honoured and grateful to all the member Associations for their overwhelming mandate and the confidence they have reposed in him by electing him again unopposed.

“Our journey together has been remarkable and he was committed to building on the progress we have made. There is still a lot to be done which he will certainly try to do in my next tenure,” he said.
“Together, we will explore new avenues of growth, support our archers, coaches and other stakeholders by providing world-class facilities and strive to win more and more medals and
achievements at the highest level of competitions,” he added.
