New Delhi, Dec 30: As the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections approach, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal announced the ‘Pujari, Granthi Samman Yojana’ on Monday. The scheme promises a monthly honorarium of around ₹18,000 for temple priests and Gurudwara granthis.

He added that the scheme would be rolled out if AAP comes to power in the upcoming elections in Delhi.

Highlighting the unique nature of the initiative, he emphasized the historical neglect of these individuals who have upheld rituals across generations.

Kejriwal highlighted the significant role of temple priests and Gurudwara granthis in connecting people with faith during important like events, often at the expense of their own families’ well-being.

He emphasized that such a scheme is unprecedented in the country and aligns with AAP’s track record of introducing first-of-its-kind initiatives, such as improving schools, hospitals, and free bus travel for women in Delhi.

He also expressed hope that BJP and Congress-led governments would adopt similar welfare measures in their states.

Kejriwal accused the BJP of trying to block the Mahila Samman Yojana by filing false cases and using police action, adding that registrations for the scheme are still in progress.
