Mumbai, April 12: Legendary Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle has died at the age of 92 in Mumbai. The iconic playback singer was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday after suffering from cardiac and respiratory issues. According to sources, Asha Bhosle had been unwell for the past few months and was brought to the hospital in critical condition. She was later admitted to the ICU on Saturday night.
Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news on Sunday afternoon. The last rites of the veteran singer will be conducted tomorrow.

Asha Bhosle, one of the most celebrated voices in Indian cinema, had a long and remarkable career in Hindi film music. She was among the most successful and prolific playback singers in Bollywood, with a legacy rivalled only by her elder sister, Lata Mangeshkar. Born in 1933 into the renowned Mangeshkar family, Asha Bhosle began singing professionally at the age of nine and recorded her first film song in 1943. By the 1950s, she had established herself as a leading singer in the industry.
Over the decades, Asha Bhosle became known for her versatility in Bollywood songs, from cabaret numbers and dance tracks to soulful ghazals. She delivered memorable performances in films like Umrao Jaan and Ijaazat. Asha Bhosle won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Award seven times and received two National Film Awards for “Dil Cheez Kya Hai” and “Mera Kuch Saamaan.”
