Dhanbad, January 29: A youth from Bihar’s Aurangabad district was arrested with 21 bottles of English liquor during a late-night check at Dhanbad Railway Station on Wednesday.

According to Railway Protection Force (RPF), the arrest was made around 11 pm during routine patrolling on platform number 2.

RPF Inspector Ajay Prakash said the patrolling team noticed a youth carrying a pitto bag and behaving suspiciously. When the personnel approached him, he attempted to flee but was promptly overpowered.

Upon searching the bag, the team recovered 21 bottles of different brands of English liquor, with an estimated market value of ₹11,390.

Accused Identified

The arrested youth was identified as Situ Kumar (21), a resident of Koyalma village under Haspura police station in Aurangabad district of Bihar.

Inspector Ajay Prakash said the RPF is maintaining heightened vigilance under Operation Satark at Dhanbad railway station to curb illegal activities.

“Liquor smugglers frequently use Bihar-bound trains, particularly the Dhanbad–Patna Ganga Damodar Express. Our teams are keeping a close watch,” he said.

The seized liquor and the arrested youth were later handed over to officials of the excise department for further legal action.

The patrolling team included ASI Shashi Kant Tiwari, Brajesh Kumar, Tanweer Khan, Babulesh Kumar, and Umapati Singh.
