New Delhi, August 21: Former Supreme Court judge B. Sudershan Reddy, fielded by the INDIA bloc as its Vice-Presidential nominee, filed his nomination papers on Thursday.

Senior opposition figures including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi were present to endorse his candidature.

Leaders from allied parties such as NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar, SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav, DMK MP Tiruchi Siva, and Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut also joined the occasion.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the filing, Reddy underlined that the upcoming election should be seen as a battle of ideology rather than merely a numbers game. He said that, as someone without political party affiliation, he expects support across party lines.

“Numbers matter continues…Of course, I am hopeful. Since I don’t belong to any political party, I believe everyone would support me…I made it very clear yesterday. It is the battle of ideology,” he remarked.
