SUMAN K SHRIVASTAVA
Ranchi, August 7: Following the death of his father, legendary tribal leader and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) founder Shibu Soren, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been sharing a series of deeply emotional posts on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Each message is more than a tribute—it is a personal reflection, a public mourning, and a declaration of commitment to carry forward his father’s lifelong mission for Jharkhand. Through his words, Soren offers a rare look into the emotional world of a son shaped by the legacy of a movement leader, and now tasked with carrying that legacy forward.

“Not Just My Father—The Soul of Jharkhand”
On July 31, the day after Shibu Soren’s passing, Hemant Soren posted a heartfelt message that set the tone for the series of tributes that followed.

“बाबूजी सिर्फ मेरे पिता नहीं, मेरे जीवन के पथ प्रदर्शक, संघर्षों के साथी और झारखंड की आत्मा थे। उनका जाना व्यक्तिगत नहीं, पूरे झारखंड के लिए एक अपूरणीय क्षति है।”
(“Babuji was not just my father—he was the guiding light of my life, a companion in struggle, and the soul of Jharkhand. His loss is not just personal but an irreparable one for the entire state.”)
This emotional note marked the beginning of a steady outpouring of grief, love, and resolve from the Chief Minister.
Remembering the Ideals and the Fight
In his second post on August 2, Hemant recalled his father’s lifelong mission for justice and dignity for the people of Jharkhand.
“आज भी उनके शब्द गूंज रहे हैं—’झारखंड की माटी को न्याय दिलाना है।’ उनका सपना, उनका संघर्ष हमेशा मेरी राह को रोशन करेगा। बाबूजी, आपकी सीख हमेशा मेरे साथ है।”
(“Even today, his words echo—‘We must deliver justice to the soil of Jharkhand.’ His dreams and his struggle will always light my path. Babuji, your teachings will remain with me forever.”)
A Legacy That Must Be Fulfilled
On August 5, Soren spoke of responsibility and duty—not just as a son, but as a leader who has inherited a political and moral legacy.
“जिस संघर्ष की नींव आपने रखी, उसे अंतिम मंज़िल तक पहुंचाना अब हमारा कर्तव्य है। झारखंड आपकी यादों और आदर्शों से हमेशा प्रेरणा लेता रहेगा।”
(“It is now our duty to take forward the struggle you began and see it through to its final goal. Jharkhand will always be inspired by your memories and ideals.”)
“Nemra: Land of Sacrifices” – A Tribute to His Roots
In the most recent post on August 7, Hemant Soren paid homage to Nemra village—the native land of the Sorens, which holds great emotional and historical significance for the family.
“नेमरा की माटी, मेरे दादा और बाबूजी की तपस्या की भूमि रही है। यह सिर्फ एक गाँव नहीं, बलिदानों की भूमि है। इस पवित्र मिट्टी को नमन करता हूँ। यही माटी हमें संघर्ष, समर्पण और सेवा की प्रेरणा देती है।”
(“Nemra’s soil has been the land of sacrifices made by my grandfather and Babuji. It is not just a village, but a sacred ground of dedication. I bow to this soil. It inspires us with struggle, devotion, and service.”)
This post struck a deep emotional chord among his followers, evoking the legacy of two generations that fought for tribal rights and statehood.
Public Mourning, Political Legacy
As Hemant Soren continues his duties as Chief Minister, his emotional tributes on social media serve not only as personal reflections but also as a poignant reminder of Shibu Soren’s towering influence on Jharkhand’s political and social landscape.
The response to these posts has been widespread, with citizens, political leaders, and party workers expressing solidarity with the grieving CM and remembering Guruji’s enduring contributions.
A Son’s Promise to Carry Forward the Torch
With each post, Hemant Soren shows the emotional and ideological bond he shared with his father. But more than that, he signals to the people of Jharkhand that the struggle is far from over—that the journey started by his father and grandfather will continue.
In words soaked with grief, memory, and resolve, the Jharkhand CM is quietly making a promise: that the vision of Shibu Soren—for justice, identity, and dignity—will live on.
