Ranchi, July 22: Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi on Wednesday demanded a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination and other recruitment processes, alleging that the “real mastermind” behind the scam was being protected by the State government.
Marandi made the remarks while participating in a BJP protest outside the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee office in Ranchi. The demonstration, led by BJP state president Aditya Sahu, sought answers from the Congress over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted during the past six years.
Marandi alleges cover-up in JPSC probe
Addressing party workers, Marandi alleged that the ongoing CID investigation into the JPSC examination was inadequate and claimed the government was attempting to shield those responsible.
“The real mastermind behind the JPSC scam sits in the Chief Minister’s residence. The government is trying to protect those involved. The entire matter should be handed over to the CBI,” he alleged.
The BJP leader also demanded a CBI investigation into the JSSC recruitment controversies and appointments made during the tenure of former JPSC Chairman L.B. Khyangte.
He claimed that only an independent investigation could establish accountability and identify those responsible for the alleged irregularities.
Aditya Sahu seeks answers from Congress
State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu accused the Congress, an ally in the Hemant Soren-led government, of remaining silent over allegations of irregularities in recruitment examinations.
He alleged that questions had been raised over several recruitment processes, including the JPSC Civil Services Examination, JSSC-CGL, Excise Constable recruitment, and teacher recruitment, affecting the future of lakhs of job aspirants.
“The government must order a CBI inquiry into all recruitment examinations, including the 14th JPSC examination. If the government has nothing to hide, it should not hesitate to face an impartial investigation,” Sahu said.
He further alleged that repeated reports of question paper leaks and recruitment irregularities had undermined public confidence in the selection process.
BJP vows statewide campaign
Sahu said the BJP would continue its agitation over the issue and launch awareness campaigns across districts and blocks in support of unemployed youth.
He accused the State government of failing to ensure a transparent recruitment process and alleged that corruption and the role of middlemen had deprived deserving candidates of employment opportunities.
The BJP leader also criticised the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of remaining silent on the concerns of job aspirants in Jharkhand.
Slogans raised outside Congress office
During the protest, BJP workers raised slogans against the Congress and Rahul Gandhi while demanding action over the alleged recruitment irregularities.
Former BJP state presidents Deepak Prakash and Ravindra Rai, along with senior leaders including C.P. Singh, Amardeep Yadav, Pratul Shahdeo, Subodh Singh Guddu, Ravinath Kishore, Ashok Badaik, Sandeep Verma, Dr. Prakash Singh, Shobha Yadav, K.K. Gupta, Ajay Rai, Satish Sinha, Neeraj Singh, Rahul Awasthi and others, were present during the demonstration.
The BJP has intensified its campaign over the alleged recruitment irregularities following the recent arrests made by the CID in the 14th JPSC examination case and the resignation of the former JPSC Chairman.
