Since teachers (voters) hail from two Lok Sabha constituencies, Dhanbad and Giridih, the candidates have left no stone unturned in the campaign right from Gomia College (85 km away from university headquarters) to BSK College Maithon near Jharkhand–Bengal Border (around 40 km away) to woo teachers.
Five candidates have formed G- 5 to campaign together. Dr Neetisha Khalkho, the coordinator of the G-5 claimed that they have campaigned in Bermo, Bokaro, Chas, RSP Jharia, SSLNT Women’s College, PG departments and got overwhelming support from teachers.
The sixth candidate Dr Sarmistha Acharyya, who has not formed any group, campaigns with senior teachers of colleges and claimed that she visited 10 constituent colleges and got their support.
For wooing the teachers, the V-P candidates have offered to ensure all benefits to teachers which they have been denied so far.
“We visited Chas College, Bokaro College and others where problems of all institutions were common. Teachers of all departments sit in a single room, poor condition of lady washroom and other basic problems. Definitely our candidates will try to sort out it”, said Dr Neetisha Khalkho, the coordinator of the G-5.
On the other hand, Dr Sarmistha Acharyya promises teachers to ensure the promotion of 2008 batch teachers and other benefits. “Teachers of BBMKU have been facing a series of problems since 2017; it would be my responsibility to sort out if elected,” she said.
