Bihar Assembly elections: EC opens nominations for 2nd phase polling

Patna, Oct 13: The Election Commission on Monday issued a notification for the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, setting the stage for polling on November 11 in 122 constituencies.

With this, the nomination process for the second phase has officially opened, giving candidates time until October 20 to submit their papers and until October 23 to withdraw their candidature.

This phase will witness elections in several prominent constituencies, including Imamganj, where the sitting MLA is Deepa Manjhi, daughter-in-law of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi; Bodh Gaya, represented by former RJD minister Kumar Sarvjeet; Lauriya, held by Bhojpuri singer Vinay Bihari; and Nautan, the former constituency of ex-BJP minister Narayan Prasad.

The first phase of the election process, covering 121 seats, began on Friday, with polling scheduled for November 6. Candidates in this phase can file nominations until October 17.

The counting of votes for all 243 seats of the Bihar Assembly is scheduled to take place on November 14.
