Patna, June 21: In a major pre-election welfare push, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a significant increase in monthly pensions under the state’s Social Security Pension Schemes.

Starting July 10, over 1.96 crore beneficiaries—including widows, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities—will receive ₹1,100 per month, nearly tripling the previous amount of ₹400.

The Chief Minister shared the update via a post on social media platform X, emphasizing that the revised pension amount will be transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts on the 10th of every month.

The move is expected to directly benefit 1,09,69,255 people across the state, enhancing financial support for vulnerable communities. Officials have confirmed that all eligible individuals will start receiving the enhanced pension from July onwards.

“I am happy to inform you that under the Social Security Pension Scheme, all the elderly, disabled and widowed women will now get a pension of Rs. 1100 instead of Rs. 400 every month. All the beneficiaries will get pension at the increased rate from the month of July. It will be ensured that this amount is sent to the account of all the beneficiaries on the 10th of the month. This will help 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 beneficiaries a lot,” Bihar CM posted on X.

“The elderly are a precious part of society and ensuring their dignified living is our top priority. The state government will continue to make efforts in this direction,” he added.
