New Delhi, Feb 3: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday introduced a bill in the Lok Sabha to grant university status to the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), renaming it as Tribhuvan Sahkari University.
Aligned with the government’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation), the bill aims to foster research and development in cooperatives, enhance global academic excellence, and strengthen the cooperative movement across the country.

The proposed legislation seeks to designate it as an institution of national importance, with a strong emphasis on technical and management education in the cooperative sector.
The initiative is expected to play a key role in advancing cooperative education and promoting innovation in the sector.
Additionally, the Lok Sabha Secretary General presented two bills that were passed during the Third Session of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha. Having received the President’s approval, these bills were formally laid on the table of the House.
