BJP alleges fake degree, Pakistan links to Jharkhand Minister Hafizul Ansari

THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Ranchi, April 28: In a fierce attack during a press conference at the BJP state office, spokesperson Ajay Sah accused Jharkhand minister Hafizul Ansari of holding a fake doctorate degree and alleged links to Pakistan-based networks.

Degree from Unrecognised University, Claims BJP

Ajay Sah alleged that Minister Hafizul Ansari obtained his PhD from a bogus institution called the “Bharat Virtual Open Educational University,” which he said has no legal status to confer degrees. Citing Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956, Sah asserted that the university is not recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Government of India, or the Jharkhand government.

According to Sah, Ansari resorted to acquiring the degree after failing to qualify through recognised Indian universities. He described the alleged university as a “paper institution” run by individuals promoting Sharia law, with no official standing under Indian law.

Alleged Pakistan Link Surfaces

Sah further claimed that the university shows affiliation with “Central Christian University, Africa.” A deeper probe allegedly revealed that the chancellor of this African institution, Dr. Usman, received his professorship from a body based in Islamabad, Pakistan.

“This entire network, including the title held by Minister Hafizul Ansari, appears to have suspicious links to Pakistan,” Sah charged, demanding a thorough investigation.

Concerns Over Constitutional Values

Raising constitutional concerns, Sah accused the minister of favouring Sharia principles over the Indian Constitution in his administrative conduct. “When questions are raised about a state minister’s credentials and constitutional allegiance, it affects the prestige of the state and the sanctity of public office,” he said.

He demanded a high-level inquiry into the alleged Pakistan connection to uncover the full extent of any wrongdoing and ensure strict legal action if violations are found.

State BJP spokesperson Rafia Naz also attended the press briefing.

Background on Hafizul Ansari

Hafizul Ansari, a senior leader in Jharkhand’s ruling coalition from Santhal Pargana, currently holds a key ministerial portfolio. Known for his influence among minority communities, Ansari has often been in the spotlight for his outspoken views on socio-religious issues.
